Random is random, right? Well today's random team picks had me (Team Brooks) as one captain and Doug (Team Bam Bam) as the other. And, as random selection would have it, today saw all of the higher handicappers on one team. In spite of that, the first game was a complete blowout in favor of Team Bam Bam. Team Bam Bam came within 18 pins of beating Team Brooks outright (without including handicaps). Team Bam Bam started with 259 pins to our 118 pins, a difference of 114 pins, before the first ball was rolled down the lane. Team Bam Bam's captain, Dog, led the charge with a solid 155, 38 pins over his average, for a NET team score of 641 to 518, a 123 pin shellacking in that first game. And even though Team Brooks managed to squeak by with narrow margin victories on games two and three, we didn't win those games by enough to overcome the thumping taken in the first.

After that game one debacle, we all settled down back closer to our natural abilities, although Bo was the only bowler today to better his average. That left Bo at the top of our individual results with a NET 625 for the week, followed closely by Tom with 591 NET pins, and bringing up third on the strength of that 155 effort was Doug with 590 NET pins.

This table can be an indicator of our own progress/improvement, consistency, or lack thereof! But then again, averages are made of the highs and the lows.
And last, there was very little movement in the standings for our group. Only Bo improved but not enough to overtake the absent Cary.

For those of you that aren't getting enough bowling, I stumbled on a MeetUp group that gets together every other Sunday evening at 5:30 over at the Kennelworth Road AMF Star Lanes. I'm thinking about checking it out this Sunday. I can share that information if you are interested. Also, there are senior leagues at Sky Lanes at 1:00 on Mondays and Thursdays. You don't have to join a team. You can join the USBC online and then just show up and substitute (for any absent team members). I do that occasionally just to get out of the house when the weather is bad and I don't have any projects I'm working on. (I used to bowl with the seniors at the AMF years ago so I know some of them.)
Take care and try to stay in from the cold!
