This week saw a number of bowlers increase their averages on good or even great efforts. Todd bested his average by 31 pins his first game. Doug, Bo, and myself each had solid series today bolstering our averages (and lowering our handicaps), although there was no actual movement in the rankings. All of that paled in comparison to the day that Liam had. Liam's first game 229 was a personal best. Liam's second game was a pedestrian 163, still 13 pins over his average. Liam capped it all off with an impressive 202 for a three game total of 594 Gross/729 Net pins, for a total of 144 pins over his average. The good news for the rest of us is Liam lost 12 points off his handicap. I managed to climb out of last week's cellar into the second spot for the week with three games, each over my average, that suggests I may be regaining some lost form. However, I bested my 3 game average by only a measly 69 pins compared to Liam's 144. Doug and his new tattoo rounded out the top three with Bo following close in fourth after a solid three game set.
This week's team results were predictable. Team "Bowl Me Over", consisting of Liam, Doug, Bo, and Todd, took the first game with close to 1000 NET Pins, almost guaranteeing a Fourth Game win on the strength of Liam's 278, Doug's 224, and Todd's 225, NET Pins. Team "Strike It Funny", with the second appearance of our most consistent bowler "Dude", along with Maurice, Tom, and Myself, caught Liam napping (he managed only the 13 pins over his average) and stole the second game. Bo and Doug stepped up in the third game to help Liam ensure Team "Bowl Me Over" won that matchup as well as the Fourth game overall score.
And here are the Standings, Averages, and Handicaps for the coming week. The names are the same, only the numbers have changed.
