I have to start off this week's report by acknowledging Todd for converting the 7-10 split last week. Although I was not personally present for the event, as it was described to me, it went something like this. Todd lined up to go after the 10 pin, made his usual approach and delivery. The ball carried down and curved just enough to catch the inside of the 10 pin solid and send it careening off the side wall, ricocheting back, and then skidding ever so agonizingly slow across the lane with barely enough energy to tap the 7 pin. I can envision Todd's typical shimmy along the foul line trying disparately to help the pin across. Todd's dance most assuredly had to have helped just this once, as the 7 did fall. Congratulations Todd! One for the books.
This week we will start with the Team Results. Team Scared Splitless, comprised of Cary, Mike R, Liam, and myself, started off strong winning the first game, led by Liam with a whopping 198, and everyone else bowling over their averages sans me! Then it was all downhill from there. After the initial game, Team Split Happens, anchored by Tom, who returned to his week one form shooting 634 NET pins for the day, won games 2, 3, & 4. Maurice, Todd, and (introducing) "The Dude" rounded out Team Split Happens, all having a solid outing at the lanes today.
For those not present today, The Dude, of "The Big Lebowski" fame, is actually a composite of all of our group's averages and handicaps. In the event we have an odd number of bowlers, like today, The Dude will fill in and even up the teams. The Dude will always bowl his average, never under or over.
Mike R. led the individual standings this week by being the only bowler having all three of his NET scores over 200. Tom and Liam tied on Gross Average with 161 pins but Tom edged Liam out for second place by 4 handicap points. Maurice had his second best NET pin score to date but still slipped one spot in the weekly race because almost everyone else had a banner day as well.
